On October 20, 2012 I visited Keene’s Pumpkin Festival in Southern New Hampshire for the first time.  I got there at about 2:00 p.m. so that I could take some daylight photos, and I stayed until about 8:00 p.m. so I could also take some night photos.

The Highlight of the Event was the large tower or pyramid stacked to the skies with hundreds and hundreds of pumpkins!

The Pumpkin Festival in Keene is about 20 years old, and is a favorite activity once a year throughout New England.

The crowds were friendly; the food was great; and the atmosphere was perfect as Halloween approached.  I hope to go again next year!

Mt. Washington in New Hampshire's White Mountains

Mt. Washington in New Hampshire

Another photo from last weekend’s trip to Mt. Washington.  We planned to climb the mountain via the auto road and earn a “This Car Climbed Mt. Washington” bumper sticker, but–alas–the road was closed two weeks earlier because of snow near the summit.  Still, I got several nice shots just from the scenic outlook.   For non-New Englanders, Mt. Washington is the tallest mountain in the East.  As you can see, it’s the pride of New Hampshire (one of many).   (Nikon D200, f 9.0, iso 320, polarizing filter)

Autumn in Keene, New Hampshire

Autumn in Keene, New Hampshire

I took this photo with my Nikon D70 a couple of years ago when my wife, son, and I went on a foliage trip from northern Massachusetts to New Hampshire, through Vermont, through a small part of NY state and back to Massachusetts along the Mohawk Trail.  We hit some absolutely magnificent foliage throughout our trip.  This is from Keene, New Hampshire, near the Keene Airport.  Please feel free to check out my flickr link (over on the right) for additional foliage shots.  (Nikon D70, f 5.6, 1/60)

Cathedral Ledge in North Conway, New Hampshire

Cathedral Ledge in North Conway, New Hampshire

My son and I took a father-son 3-day weekend in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.  On the final day, we learned about this place, Cathedral Ledge.  It was absolutely gorgeous, and only a 200-yard hike after climbing 5-10 minutes with our car.
